💚 Bodhi and the Tree of Kindness ( Chapter 4)

The Adventure of Helping a Friend

Bodhi squinted his eyes and looked up into the branches.

Something was moving between the long hanging vines.

A tail.

Two small hands.

And then a voice.

Bodhi! Help!”

Bodhi’s eyes widened.

Kiko?!”

High in the giant tree, the little monkey was tangled between the swinging jungle vines.

The more Kiko moved…

the more stuck he seemed to become.

I was trying a new swing trick!” Kiko shouted.

But now I can’t get out!”

Bodhi stepped closer to the tree.

Kiko! Stop moving for a moment!”

But Kiko kept wiggling and twisting.

I’m trying!”

Don’t move!” Bodhi called again.

You’re getting more tangled!”

Kiko finally froze.

The vines swayed softly in the warm jungle breeze.

Bodhi looked up carefully.

The vines hung high above him.

And Kiko was even higher.

Bodhi scratched his head and studied the tree.

A thick branch stretched out from the trunk a little lower down.

Maybe he could climb up from there.

Stay very still,” Bodhi said.

I’m coming up.”

Bodhi grabbed the rough bark of the tree and slowly began to climb.

The bark felt strong beneath his paws.

He pulled himself up branch by branch.

Higher and higher.

Until he was finally close enough to reach the tangled vines.

Kiko looked relieved.

You made it!”

Bodhi laughed.

Well… you’re really stuck up here.”

Bodhi studied the vines carefully.

One vine was wrapped around Kiko’s arm.

Another was twisted around his tail.

And one even looped around his foot.

How did you get tied up like this?” Bodhi asked.

Kiko grinned sheepishly.

I wanted to try a new jungle swing.”

Bodhi chuckled.

I think the jungle won that swing.”

Carefully, Bodhi began loosening the vines.

First one.

Then another.

Slowly the tight knots began to loosen.

And just then…

something magical happened.

The leaves of the giant tree began to glow softly.

A warm green light spread through the branches.

The jungle around them slowly shimmered with a deep emerald color.

The vines sparkled gently in the sunlight.

Kiko looked around in surprise.

Whoa… what’s happening?”

Bodhi looked at the glowing leaves.

I’m not exactly sure,” he said.

But sometimes the jungle changes like this when something good happens.”

The leaves rustled softly above them.

For a moment the jungle felt warm and peaceful.

Then Bodhi pulled the final vine loose.

And suddenly—

SWOOSH!

Kiko swung free.

The little monkey grabbed a branch and landed beside Bodhi.

YES!” Kiko shouted happily.

Thank you, Bodhi!”

Kiko quickly climbed down the tree.

Bodhi followed him.

When they reached the ground, Kiko looked curiously at Bodhi.

So… what are you doing all the way up here on this mountain?”

Bodhi sighed a little.

I’m lost.”

Kiko tilted his head.

Lost?”

Bodhi nodded.

I’m trying to find my way home.”

Kiko thought for a moment.

Then a smile slowly spread across his face.

Well… I know quite a lot of places in the jungle.”

Bodhi’s eyes brightened.

Really?”

Kiko nodded.

But first,” he said mysteriously, “there is a place we should visit.”

Bodhi looked curious.

What place?”

Kiko leaned closer and lowered his voice.

A place where the jungle talks back.”

Bodhi blinked.

The jungle talks back?”

Kiko grinned.

If you shout there…”

the jungle answers.”

Bodhi looked toward the forest stretching beyond the mountain.

The jungle suddenly felt full of secrets.

He smiled.

Then let’s go.”

And together, Bodhi and Kiko began walking down the mountain…

toward their next adventure.

💚 What Green Means

In the Zenmist Jungle, green stands for Kindness.

Kindness means helping someone when they need it.

Bodhi helped Kiko when he was stuck in the vines.

And sometimes one small act of kindness can make the whole world feel brighter.

Just like the jungle glowing green when Bodhi helped his friend.

🐼 Try This

Want to practice kindness like Bodhi?

Think of someone you can help today.

Maybe a friend.

Maybe someone at home.

A small act of kindness can make a big difference.

Just like in the Zenmist Jungle.
