💛 Bodhi and the Hill of Courage ( Chapter 3 )

The Adventure of Golden Courage
Bodhi walked along the river while the sun slowly climbed higher into the sky.
The water flowed gently between smooth stones, making a soft bubbling sound.
Every now and then a small fish jumped out of the river, leaving little circles on the surface of the water.
Butterflies floated above the flowers growing along the riverbank.
Bodhi thought about Nalu.
Playing together at the river had been fun.
But Bodhi still had a problem.
He was still lost in the Zenmist Jungle.
In the distance he could see the tall hill Nalu had told him about.
From the top of that hill, Nalu had said, you could see far across the jungle.
Maybe from there Bodhi could finally discover where he was…
and which direction might lead him back home.
Bodhi took a deep breath.
“Okay,” he said quietly.
“Then that’s where I need to go.”

As Bodhi walked closer, the hill began to look much bigger.
The soft grass slowly turned into rocky ground.
The path became steeper and steeper.
Bodhi stopped for a moment and looked up.
The top of the hill seemed very far away.
“That’s a big climb,” Bodhi whispered.
His belly felt a little nervous.
What if he slipped?
What if he couldn’t reach the top?
But Bodhi looked again toward the sunlight shining on the rocks above.
If he could reach the top…
he might finally see the jungle from above.
And maybe he could find the way home.
Bodhi nodded to himself.
“I’ll try.”

The first part of the climb was easy.
The ground was still soft and covered with grass.
But soon the path turned into rough stones.
Some rocks were loose.
Others were smooth from years of wind and rain.
Bodhi climbed carefully.
Step by step.
Sometimes he had to hold onto a rock with his paws.
Sometimes small stones rolled down the hill behind him.
Halfway up the hill, Bodhi stopped to rest.
He looked down.
The jungle already looked much smaller.
The river curved through the forest like a silver ribbon.
But the top of the hill was still higher.
Bodhi swallowed.
He could turn around now.
But then he would never know what he might see from the top.
So Bodhi kept climbing.
Step by step.
Slowly.
Bravely.
Until finally…
he reached the top.

A gentle wind moved across the hilltop.
Bodhi looked out over the Zenmist Jungle.
His eyes grew wide.
He could see everything.
The bamboo forest where he had gotten lost.
The river where he met Nalu.
The flower fields glowing in the sunlight.
The endless green jungle stretching far into the distance.
And just then something magical happened.
The sunlight became warmer.
Brighter.
Leaves across the jungle began to glow.
Golden yellow light spread between the trees.
It was as if the sun itself had stepped into the forest.
Bodhi looked around in amazement.
“The jungle is turning yellow…”
The warm golden light surrounded the trees, the hills, and the rivers.
It felt powerful.
Strong.
Almost like the jungle was saying:
You were brave enough to climb.

Just as Bodhi continued looking across the jungle…
he suddenly heard a voice.
“HELP!”
Bodhi turned around quickly.
The voice came from the other side of the hilltop.
There stood a giant tree growing straight out of the rocky mountain.
Its branches stretched wide across the sky.
Long jungle vines hung down along the side of the cliff.
“HELP!”
The voice came again.
Bodhi looked up into the branches.
Something was moving between the vines.
He squinted his eyes…

💛 What Yellow Means
In the Zenmist Jungle, yellow stands for Golden Courage.
Courage means trying something even when it feels a little scary.
Bodhi felt that courage when he decided to climb the hill.
Even though the climb looked steep and difficult, he kept going.
And the jungle reflected that brave moment by glowing golden yellow.
Sometimes courage simply means taking the next step.
🐼 Try This
Want to feel Golden Courage like Bodhi?
Think of something that feels a little scary.
Maybe trying something new.
Or doing something you have never done before.
Take a slow breath.
Then take one small step.
Sometimes courage begins with simply trying.
